FAQ

Here are some of our most commonly asked questions for our cakes and services. If you’re looking for information about balloons – you’ll find that here, in our Balloon FAQs.

For most of our celebration cakes, we use a tasty vanilla sponge with jam and buttercream, but we also have lots of other flavours to choose from.

Visit our Cake Flavours page to see our current range of delicious flavours.

We do advise that you come to our shop where you can speak to an expert member of our team to best advise you on your cake needs.

We aim to offer a full service with your cake, so if you would like your cake delivered and set up at your event this can be arranged for a fee and subject to the date and availability. We can deliver across the West Midlands, including Birmingham, Atherstone, Nuneaton, Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield. We do not deliver any further than 25 miles from our shop (B78 3RF)

You will appreciate that cakes are delicate and can easily be damaged, which is why we do not offer to post cakes or use courier services.

Alternatively, you can collect from our  Tamworth cake and party shop.

All of our cakes are individually hand made to order, each with own individual finishing touch and customisation, which means we take care to price each order to your specifications.

Booking as far in advance as possible is always preferable to make sure we can fit your order in.

For designing and creating celebration cakes we would need around 2-3 weeks’ notice.

For simple cupcakes, we need about a week’s notice.

We can offer last-minute cakes, from a basic design range, please call or visit us if you need a last-minute cake and we can advise you on the best solution.

For weddings, we would prefer you to secure your date at least 3 months in advance.

Please contact us to discuss your timings.

We can cater for certain special dietary requirements (see more in our Flavours guide), but due to the strict legislation regarding allergens (December 2014 – requiring a separate bakery for allergen / gluten / dairy free produce) we are unable to offer a guarantee that our cakes can be made with a 100%  Allergen / Gluten / Dairy free due to the risk of cross-contamination in the bakery, and therefore are not labelled as such.

We can, however, use soya butter and gluten-free flour etc. on request but as stated above this can never be guaranteed to be 100% risk-free.

If you have any specific questions regarding Allergen / Gluten / Dairy free please contact us to discuss your requirements.

For Wedding cakes, we offering a cake consultation which includes a taste of our all our fabulous flavours.

For celebration cakes and cupcakes, we do not offer a tasting service.

When you receive your cake, you need to check and sign to say the cake meets the specifications detailed on your order form. If someone else is collecting on your behalf, they must be able to confirm the cake meets the specifications. Once the “Order received” box has been signed or you have verbally accepted your order, the risk in the cake becomes your responsibility; any repairs or changes required after this point might not be possible and will be charged accordingly.

It is your responsibility to collect your cake at the time and date on your order form. Collections should be during our normal opening hours (unless otherwise agreed). You will not be eligible for any compensation for a missed collection.

Once a cake has been received, we cannot be responsible for any damages that may occur during transit or afterwards.

Please listen to the advice given by members of staff. Cakes are fragile and temperature-sensitive. Drive like you have a fragile ornament in your car!

Cake deliveries:

If you would like your cake delivered and set up at your venue this can be arranged at an agreed rate. Please note delivery is subject to the availability of our staff and the time of day and the distance of the delivery address.

When delivering to a venue, we will take a photograph of the cake in situ before leaving and, where possible, obtain a signature from the venue confirming the cake has been received in good condition. (This photo evidence supersedes the above “Order Received” agreement and we no longer assume responsibility for the cake).

Should the venue need to set up the cake themselves we shall explain how the cake is to be displayed. Once the cake has been delivered, we are unable to accept liability for any damage sustained to the cake thereafter nor any failure to follow the instructions provided.

All of our cakes are best eaten within 2-3 days from collection/delivery. (We are sure you will have  eaten them long before this!).

We recommend you keep then in wrapped up in tin foil or place in an air tight container after cutting to keep them fresh.

Our cakes should be stored at room temperature away from direct sunlight. Sponge cakes are at their best when eaten within 2-3 days. Fruit cakes should stay fresh for much longer.

You can freeze our cakes however we cannot guarantee they will be of the same quality as they were when fresh.

It can be difficult to judge the size of cake you need to order, but a good place to start is the number of guests at your party.

As a rough guide:

8″ round – 20 servings

All our celebration cakes come on a sturdy standard coloured foil cake board, which can be incorporated into your design.

For a more professional look, we offer a cake stand hire service for large wedding or celebration cakes and / or cupcake towers. You can ask to see our selection of stands available in store.

The cost to hire a stand is £10 per 5 days. We require a £50 refundable cash deposit for each stand hired, which will be refunded once the stand is returned to us undamaged within a week.

Any damages to the stand will be deducted from the deposit. In the event that damages are excessive, or a loss has occurred  then the deposit will be retained.

Our shop and bakery is based in Fazeley, Tamworth – see map below. There are a few parking bays directly in front of the shop. If you cannot find a space here, you may be able to find parking on the main high street or The Plough car park. Alternatively,  you can call us and we can direct you to our rear entrance to pick up your cake or party supplies.

As every cake we make is bespoke, we do not have a catalogue of designs for you to choose from, however, you can take inspiration from our previous designs (see our extensive Gallery) and together we can come up with something completely unique, either with  your own imagination or we’re happy to advise.

We like to use our own designs, but we are happy to take inspiration from pictures you have seen of cakes elsewhere. If you email over an image, we would be happy to provide a quote for something similar.
