We are delighted to have recently received a business boost from Retail Entrepreneur Theo Paphitis. In August, we tweeted Theo about our small business during ‘Small Business Sunday’ and were selected as one of six weekly winners to gain a retweet by Theo to his 500,000 Twitter followers. The weekly initiative, set up by Theo in 2010, now has over 2500 #SBS winners and supports small businesses in the UK.
As a result of Theo’s re‐tweet, we have almost doubled the number of followers on Twitter in 48 hours and received an increase in our website traffic. We are also profiled on the #SBS website (www.theopaphitissbs.com) that is exclusive to all Small Business Sunday winners.
Angela Malin said, “We took over existing cake company in Tamworth three years ago and turned it into Quality Cake Company. We have grown from strength to strength and it is so exciting to be part of this small business community. We are a family business, I run Quality Cake Company with my partner Isabel and my sister Lisa, with additional family support. We continue to produce amazing photo-worthy cakes and balloons and are proud to be part of so many celebrations across Staffordshire and the surrounding areas.
It is great to have support from Theo to raise our profile and recognise Quality Cake Company as a stand-out small business in Staffordshire. With Theo recognising our hard work and helping spread the word about what we do to his following is absolutely fantastic.”
Small business champion and Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue Chairman, Theo Paphitis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish Quality cake Company every success.”
Quality Cake Company produces cakes and balloons for all occasions. We are always looking for ways to support other local small businesses and have been a champion for online communities and initiatives including #TamworthIsOpen, #AmazingTamworth, #ShopLocal, #ShopSafe, #ShopSafelyInStaffs #SmallBiz, #IndependentBusiness.
Anyone looking for a re‐tweet from Theo should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5:00pm and 7:30 PM and include the hashtag #SBS. Six lucky businesses are re‐tweeted every Monday at 8:00pm and then invited to enter their profile on the new website, attend the annual #SBS networking event and take advantage of the networking opportunities.
