Cake Collection Guide - Quality Cake Company

Cake Collection Guide

We’ve made thousands of cakes and we love seeing everyone’s reactions when they see their finished cake a.k.a masterpiece! We have many years of experience and have seen all sorts of cake disasters, so we’ve put together this information to ensure your cake arrives at its destination in one piece.

Please read this guide that we’ve put together to help you with collecting and enjoying your cake.

Your cake will come in a box with a lid. You will not need to bring any bags or boxes to transport it.

Collecting & travelling

If you need to change the time and date of your cake collection, please let us know at the earliest opportunity and we will do our best to accommodate where possible.

Please note, we are not responsible for missed collections.

Most car seats are slanted so this is not a suitable place to travel with your cake. The footwell will sometimes work, however, most cakes will come in a tall box and in our experience, most will not fit.

We recommend putting the cake in the boot. It is flat and secure and you’ll have room for any size box. We suggest you make some room before you collect your cake and if you have something non-slip, bring it with you to help prevent it from sliding.

Remember the cake is being held together with sugar, it is extremely fragile. Treat it like you would a glass vase – do not drive erratically whilst transporting it, if you brake too hard or turn sharply, it could slide over and collapse.

Remember, once the cake leaves the shop we are no longer responsible for it.

Storing & Eating

Buttercream does not like the heat and starts to melt, so please do not leave your cake in the car. Once you collect your cake we recommend you go straight home or to your venue. The cake will need to be kept cool but does not need to be put in the fridge, the moisture will get the cake too wet and the icing could dissolve.

Cakes often contain non-edible parts such as wooden or plastic food-safe supports for structure and stability, please check your cake for these items before serving.

First, remember you’re cutting a cake, not a pizza; our portions are based on rectangular pieces. Round cakes are cut the same as square cakes.

Make a cut completely across the cake about 1 inch wide. Now lay that section flat on a cutting board and slice it into equal portions. And repeat!

Leftovers & Freezing

Our cakes stay fresh for up to 4-5 days uncut. Once you have cut your delicious cake, you can prevent it from going dry by keeping it in an air-tight container – a Tupperware is ideal, or wrapped with clingfilm.

If you have leftovers, your cake can be frozen. Wrap slices in clingfilm and defrost thoroughly before eating. Consume within two months.

We’d love to hear how the cake was received at your celebration, did it have a wow factor? Did it taste delicious?
