Cheap Balloons vs. Quality Balloons - Quality Cake Company

Cheap Balloons vs. Quality Balloons

We always aim to provide the highest standards and go above and beyond for our customers. In this blog, we wanted to highlight the difference between cheap balloons vs quality balloons. Cheap balloons bought online might seem tempting but often turn out to be very poor quality. Also, the balloon is not usually the expensive part – it’s the helium!

Here at Quality Cake Company, we stock a huge range of balloons from trusted suppliers including OaktreeUniqueQualatex and Anagram. We sell and use these brands as they not only provide us with great modern designs but high-quality balloons.

As part of our service offering, we occasionally inflate balloons customers have bought elsewhere*. But, we warn customers that these balloons may not be as high a quality as the ones we supply. So, when we inflate them, we cannot refund them if they are faulty or pop (which does happen).

Cheap balloons vs quality balloons

You may think that you are saving money by buying un-inflated ‘cheap’ balloons on the internet. But, by the time you’ve driven somewhere to get them inflated, and paid for ribbons, weights and helium it’s easier to pop into our shop and use our tried and tested products.

You know what they say….buy cheap buy twice?

Branded Latex balloons vs Own Label Latex balloons

A common request we get is for bunches of latex balloons to be inflated…below is an example of a like-for-like comparison of a bunch of 3 latex balloons for a table centrepiece.

On the left is a beautiful spray of 3 Qualatex pearl 11” latex balloons purchased in our shop.

Total price = £9 including, a fancy weight, curing ribbon and helium.

vs

On the right is a spray of 3 that a customer had purchased online and asked us to inflate.

Total price = £4.50 excluding ribbons, a weight and the cost of the balloons.

**prices correct as of 2023

You can see that the ones on the right are a lot smaller (about 7”- 9”). This means:

  1. You don’t get a great impact from your display
  2. They will not last as long (float time is reduced).

We estimate approx 8-12 hours from our Qualatex latex balloons (but we have known them to last longer than that!).

Time

Making balloon sprays takes time, if you have 10 sprays, this will cost not only money but time.

If you want to inflate the balloons yourself at home, it will take you a little while! You need to measure all the strings to get them the same length. You’ll need to inflate and knot each balloon. Now tie all your strings onto each balloon and curl them. Finally, you’ll need to bunch them to each balloon is equidistant and the height of each spray matches the one before. We estimate this will take you over an hour and a half.

At Quality Cake Company we take this hassle away, which leaves you time to prepare for your party – another thing to think about when comparing cheap balloons vs quality balloons

All our balloon prices include helium, curling ribbons (lots of them) and a plastic weight. Our large number foil balloons include a fancy weight too!
