Cake Information
You wouldn’t think it, but there are a lot of questions we usually ask and get asked when ordering a cake.
We’ve tried to cover it all on this page.
How to order a cake
It’s always best to check availability – we get booked quickly and don’t like to let people down.
For Celebration & Birthday cakes we usually have availability about 1-2 weeks in advance, but in the Summer it can be 3-4 weeks, so check with us first.
For Wedding Cakes, we advise booking at least 3 months in advance, although 6-12 months is preferred as popular dates in the Summer fill up fast.
We sometimes have last-minute availability for some of our Signature cakes, so get in touch to see if we can do anything.
As standard our cakes are quoted and made in our classic vanilla flavour.
However, you can always opt for something different such as chocolate caramel, toffee or red velvet.
We also offer vegan and gluten-friendly options, so there is something for everyone.
It’s always good to have an idea of the size of the cake that you need i.e. the number of portions or people the cake is to serve.
As a guide, an 8″ round cake will serve around 15 people.
If you have a larger celebration, then you might need to consider more than one tier. Also, if you want a large wow-factor cake and you’re worried about wastage, don’t worry as we can always replace one of the cake tiers with a dummy or fake tiers to get the wow factor still.

Here’s the fun part! Choosing the design.

Why don’t you have a standard price list?
All of our cakes are individually hand-made to order, each with bespoke finishing touches and customisation, which means we take care to price each order to your specifications.
Do you cater for special dietary requirements?
We can cater for certain special dietary requirements (see more in our Flavours guide), but due to the strict legislation regarding allergens (December 2014 – requiring a separate bakery for allergen/gluten / dairy-free produce) we are unable to offer a guarantee that our cakes can be made with a 100% Allergen / Gluten / Dairy-free due to the risk of cross-contamination in the bakery and therefore are not labelled as such.
We can, however, use soya butter and gluten-free flour etc. on request but as stated above this can never be guaranteed to be 100% risk-free.
If you have any specific questions regarding Allergens please contact us to discuss your requirements.

We hope that every Quality Cake Company order is fulfilled to your satisfaction. However, if there is something wrong, please get in touch as soon as possible and we will aim to fix it within reason and subject to capacity and the nature of the problem. Also, please refer to our Terms & Conditions for additional information on cancellation charges.
If you have purchased an item from the shop in Tamworth (not a cake) and you are not fully satisfied, you can return the item, with proof of purchase and we will offer a full refund within 28 days, so long as the item is undamaged, has not been used and you can provide your proof of purchase. What happens once the cake has been collected?
When you receive your cake, you need to check and sign to say the cake meets the specifications detailed on your order form. If someone else is collecting on your behalf, they must be able to confirm the cake meets the specifications. Once the “Order received” box has been signed or you have verbally accepted your order, the risk in the cake becomes your responsibility. Any repairs or changes required after this point might not be possible and will be charged accordingly.
It is your responsibility to collect your cake at the time and date on your order form. Collections should be during our normal opening hours (unless otherwise agreed). You will not be eligible for any compensation for a missed collection.
Once a cake has been received, we cannot be responsible for any damages that may occur during transit or afterwards.
Please listen to the advice given by staff members. Cakes are fragile and temperature-sensitive. Drive like you have a fragile ornament in your car! See more in our Cake Collection Guide.
What designs can I choose from? I’ve seen a picture online, can you make it?
As every cake we make is bespoke, we do not have a catalogue of designs for you to choose from, however, you can take inspiration from our previous designs (see our extensive Gallery) and together we can come up with something unique, either from your imagination or we’re happy to advise.
We like to use our designs, but we are happy to take inspiration from pictures you have seen of cakes elsewhere. If you email over an image, we would be happy to provide a quote for something similar.
